How Not to Get A Job: Make a Good 1st Impression

Corporate America hasn't cornered the market on quirky candidates. The non-profit world has them too. Ken Newton, managing director of SpringWell Church in Taylors, SC got a call from "James" (not his real name) that made a memorable first impression.
"Hi Ken, this is James"
"Hi James"
"Is this Ken?"
"This is Ken. How can I help you, James?"
"Ken?"
"Yes James"
"I am calling about the position."
"What position is that, James?"
"The position at SpringWell."
"James, could you explain further? What position have you heard about that I will better understand why you are calling?"

Hang up. Dial tone.
Sounds like James lost his nerve. See the whole thing, plus some good advice, here.
